@IonaDavinaJ theres only 2 followers who cant die, Mjoll the lioness and the dark brotherhood initiate. every other follower can die by anything.

@KatarovMan Not possible. Followers are not killable by NPCs so she'll be back at your house. The only way for her to die is if you kill her. If you can't find her at your house check at the Jarl's castle in Whiterun.
