Rats are very clean animals. They bathe themselves more frequently than cats do! They are constantly taking "quick" washes--just the nose, or head, or some random spot--in addition to the more thorough baths.
The day I introduced my two fancy rats to water (for playing in), I was fortunate to catch both Diamond and Perla, each in turn, washing themselves thoroughly. Watch the video to see who wins the contest for the most thorough bath! :D
