I grew up listening to this brother. One of the greatest poets I've ever heard and a voice for us all that can relate. His pain is over now. Yours and mine are still very present....................... PRISONER !

@poppaindy -I can DEFINITELY relate. If there were a hand of people that have made a DEFINITIVE IMPACT on what I AM, GSH is one of the fingers. I had the pleasure of meeting him 30+ years ago and to say my life has not been the same since is overstating the obvious. Much of the way I evolved to think can trace back to that day...I am NOT and never have been just a "fan" of GSH, I AM a living EFFECT of this brothers light & wisdom. He cant be "dead" because so many of WE continue to LIVE... RIP

RIP Brother Gil Scott-Heron.
Because of Gil, I quit a "good Government job" carrying the mail to return to college and got a solid liberal arts education at FISK ('76) plus a masters and a doctorate ..
Because of Gil, I realized that the "revolution" would always be on-going. And that it would be an inner struggle more so than anything else.
