In 1996, I worked for six months at sea on a lobster fishing boat. It was the hardest and most dangerous job I've ever done. 90 miles off the New England coast, taking it six 18-hour days at a time.

The boat paid on percentages of the take. I don't know what the Captain was making but everyone else was making $1,200 to $1,500 a week. As the new bait guy I was making a flat $500. I quit just as I was getting trained on the rail. I would've also got a percentage if I would've stuck with it, but I was dreading the thought of working through the winter. We were at sea approx. 6 days straight getting about 5 hours sleep. Then we were in a day, sometimes two, and then back out again. :)

you make it sound like hard work lol i have been lobstering sents i was 10 years old and we go only in the winter months in 45 foot boats off shore. now thats a mans job
