beef stew is the best from MH. also the food is not dehydrated it is freeze dried.. very different processes. you can actually make your own meals and send them off and have them freeze dried.

i know they are mountain house but i get them from my MEC store so my friends and i just call them Mec Meals. not bad. we just add the watter seal the top and slosh it around in the bag for a good 8 min. you NEEED to break up the chunks though because the salt condenses and its never good. lasagna and meat sauce and seafood chouder(believe it or not) are especialy good.

My favorite by far of the Mountain House foods. It has a little too much spice for my 5 year old that hikes with us. The rest of the family LOVES IT!
Thanks Tinny, Have a Great Day!

9500 to 14,000 ft. is the range I'm talking about.
once you cook it if you only eat one serving can you close the bag to have the other serving another time?

I have had this meal and I do enjoy it! We remove the meal from its package and repack it in 2 vacu-seal bags. I to have had issues dehydrating beans for the trail foods. The only ones I had any luck with are refried beans and we make a taco salad out on the trail with dehydrated beef a small crumbled up bag of corn chips dehydrated green peppers, tomatoes, onions. Taco seasoning mix, and I have even dehydrated Ortega taco sauce. Its not bad but make sure you have seperate tents that night!
