This is about a different kind of artist, one who carries a weapon and a sketchbook into battle. Every service, at least since the Mexican-American War, has enlisted a small cadre of men who can not only fight but can also witness the large and small facets of war, then translate those memories to paper and canvas. The Army has its artists. The Navy has them. The Marines. And most enemy forces, as well. We will be looking at various wars over the next few days and how they were covered by the men and women who carried pencils and brushes into battle. Music is traditional oriental airs.
Can't say as I enjoy war, but this artwork is amazing. I had no idea that so much artwork existed from various wars.
