This video demonstrates how to make a split screen effect using Windows Movie Maker. In order to create this effect, you'll have to download & install a small add-on file for WMM from rehanfx . org. The video explains where to obtain the effect, but omits detailed directions because they are posted on the website. I hope that you find this video helpful in creating this effect. If so, please comment.
You can also get picture-in-picture and more transitions effects from the same website which will enhance your use of Movie Maker.
If you like this video, please watch my other instructional videos available on my YouTube channel.
Thanks,

Denis

  • I know this is really off topic, but I believe the music that starts playing around four and a half minutes is from the sims. Back on topic, thank you for this informative video :)

  • @xTheEmilyx You are correct about the music... Shhh! Don't tell anyone... it's a secret.

  • Question. When I import video, Movie Maker splits them up into random length bits. Even a 1 minute video is split into 4 or 5 parts. Can I splice them all back together so each video is just one file each? Or keep movie Maker from splitting them up?

    Thanks.

  • Thank you SO much for this. It taught me exactly what I needed to know. I want to make videos with my motorcycle - before and after I make changes to the suspension. Now I'll be able to put them side by side!

  • @TheArkTek Cool! Enjoy. If you want to add some other cool stuff to Movie Maker (text effects/transitions/texture loops) check out... (sorry, can't insert links here) hitthebongo (dot) co (dot) uk/wordpress/

There's some nice add-on stuff there. The 'texture loops' are cool to use as backgrounds for titles. Just drop one into the timeline several times in a row until you get the duration that you need.

The text effects are cool too!

  • @Denb7 I have windows 7 but I downloaded movie maker 2.6 from the microsoft website and it all works fine. Been having a lot of fun freaking out the family. :)

  • @BlubDieHenne Sorry, but the RehanFX split screen is only for the Windows XP version of Movie Maker. It doesn't even work with Win Vista!

  • @TheArkTek Terrific! That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Have fun!
