@doyoublush "Hitler himself wrote in Mein Kampf that he was doing God's work in the destruction of the Jews"
But that had nothing to do with deicide, as you would know if you had read the whole paragraph rather than mining quotes. In the passage, Hitler said that communism was going to destroy the world and that Jews were the ones spreading it. His reasoning was that by fighting Jews, he was stopping communism, so he was protecting God's creation, and therefore doing the Lord's work
@Frab2001 you could also read "Mit brennender Sorge" which was an encyclical written by Pope Pius XI into the Catholic archives on March 10, 1937, which was a reading condemning the acts of Hitler and the concept of Nazism, as well as the ransacking and vandalizing of German Catholic Churches.
@Frab2001 This matter is more difficult than just quoting one verse from a Hitler-youth song. You have to study a little bit more. Hitler liked to be venerated and probably saw organized religion as competing with his stature.
And of course Hitler was a "megalomanic", but he had some Christian beliefs too.
PS: watch out with the English and French translation "Hitler's Table Talk"; only the original German version is authentic, the others are corrupted.
@doyoublush First, the old antijewish christianity was not racial. They admited converted jews. Second, talking about a God or even about Jesus doesn´t make you a christian. Third, the nazi party got its worse electoral results in the most religours parts of Germany (south, southwest) and the best ones in the militarist and protestant deep Prussia.
Hitler himself wrote in Mein Kampf that he was doing God's work in the destruction of the Jews. The Kristallnacht (Krystalnight), was organized on the birthday of Martin Luther, famous for publishing "On the Jews and their lies", which turned out to have been used as a blueprint for the Krystalnight. Jews were discriminated by Christians for ages, because they commited deicide in killing Jesus. So what the hell are you talking about?
If that quote of his was the only proof then you might be correct, but it's not. The laundry list of other evidence supporting Hitler's CHristianity is all a matter of public record. Try again.
lol, you are quoting Hitler from a publish speach in 1928. So the whole weight of your argument rests in Hitler's integrity and honesty. So if you were Polish, I can take it you would have believed Hitler in when he said, "Germany, on her part, has not called up a single man and had not thought of proceeding in any way against Poland." Well guess what, not everyone is such a sucker. Behavior trumps words. And Hitler more than tolerated Martin Bormann...
I didn't make that connection. Believe me I wish I was that smart. It was Hitchens. Google "Cult of personality" and you can read more. It's the same "magical thinking" at work.
No if - sorry. What do you suppose I'm getting at? Come on now - think about it....what happens when leaders claim to have a "mandate from god" or foster some other cult of personality replete with religiosity (e.g. Pol Pot, Joseph Stalin, Mao Se Tung, etc…) They use said RELIGIOSITY to committ attrosities. Attrosities they could get done by NO OTHER MEANS than RELIGION.
First you are either misinformed, or a LIAR. Hitler was a devout Christian. Secondly - to answer your question this quote does a good job - "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." Steven Weinberg
