Brando is powerhouse performer. Nobody could touch him. Not even Pacino or De Niro. Not even close to Brando.

Great actors like Brando and Gene Hackman can play all emotions: sorrow, joy and rage with intensity. Sometimes I think anger is the toughest because so few actors can do it realistically (Tom Hanks take note). To see another great explosive moment watch Morgan Freeman and Robert Guilliame go toe-to-toe in a scene from LEAN ON ME.

big! big! western of marlom brando.
-
@BOYZEEE1 I agree absolutely. He practically invented those 2.
-
@HiddenFormula also notice before the outburst he touches his temple just as he did when he hit tim carey in the bar scene
-
@HiddenFormula actually there was one Jimmy Stewart he is slightly more terrifying in Winchester 73, but it is very close yuo are essentially right though as for psychotic White Heat Jimmy Cagney is crazier than either

Absolutely brilliant stuff. What's the difference between these guys and modern actors... These guys make you BELIEVE IT...
Hope everybody as enjoyed watching but YOUTUBE in their wisdom decided that I am breaking some kind of ancient copyright law and have threatened to ban me from YOUTUBE !!! if anything they or Paramount should be paying me for promoting their old films and maybe turning on a younger audience to them that may then go out and buy them on dvd! They have already deleted all my clips of 'SHANE' which took me quite a lot of effort to edit and upload back then.
YOUTUBE SUCKS. See you around. Dave

That's pretty ridiculous, considering that ONE EYED JACKS is public domain. It is no longer owned by Paramount, or anyone.

I was refering to Shane which yoiutube deleted Paramount had apparently complained to them that my uploads of Shane from about five years ago were illegal and against copyright law. Anyway they deleted them.

The scene was unforgettable but Ben Johnson gave a masterful portrayal of his character as well a hateful, cynical, treacherous character. Git' them stinkin fish outa here! They were all great I love this flick.

Yeah your dead right Ben Johnson was brilliant like he always is and really funny with his cynical observatons ' wouldn't want to loose a handful of brains trying to find out' ...great lines.

My fave scene of the movie! I think brando was especially good at sudden outburst/temper/fight scenes; both physically and verbally. The way he is so calm a lot of the time then suddenly let's loose....pretty intimidating for sure! I guess he must bring up a lot of his own inner anger into these scenes to make them so effective. Like the classic temper scene at the meal table in Streetcar...I've yet to watch an actor portray the same kind of phyiscal&verbal energy and anger so realistically.

Yes he was a master at portraying that simmering rage that was just bubbling below his calm brooding surface, superbly demonstrated in this scene. The one and only actor with the same quality in my opinion is the criminally overlooked and neglected Richard Bradford who was a great admirer and fan of Brando.
