Alice is a permanently injured, human-imprinted owl who works at the Houston Nature Center and lives at home with her handler. She bathes about every 2 weeks or so. After her bath she hops up onto the railing, rouses (shakes her feathers), feaks (wipes her wet beak), and continues to rouse and preen until she's dry.

  • I must say to this day I am still scared to death of Owls. Since I was a kid I've been scared. I don't know why. I mean Alice is a beautiful owl and all but I would still be scared to even be near one. I wonder if there is anyone else like me. I do like the video because Alice seems like a nice owl.

  • @Rubarty Yes, there are other people who are afraid of owls. Most of them have a story from childhood...a situation that really frightened them...that is the root of their fear.

  • if you pet a trained owl , even then they get annoyed or bite ? ...

even if you raised them up from that way , i saw many owls like to get petting or cuddling ...

  • @MJTOOR Alice is just a tamed owl, so yes, she still tries to bite me if I try to pet her. If an owl is raised from a very, very young age with lots of handling, then they will tolerate or may even enjoy cuddling. You can see owls like this most often in countries where anyone can buy them from a breeder.

  • @karlakinstler thanks for your response. basically i am about to buy an baby owl from a breeder, i am also considering to take falconry courses before i buy one.

  • @MJTOOR I assume you live in England? I would highly recommend you take falconry courses before you buy a baby owl from a breeder if you're not already very familiar with their care and training. There's a lot to know to care for the owlet properly.

  • What a handsome bird. Gigantic and looks like it means serious business.

  • Love, love, Owls!!! Alice is so Beautiful!! Thanks so much for posting.

  • Alice is absolutely beautiful! :-)

  • dude your awesome for posting this video! Beautiful Gods Creature!

  • @Rubarty maybe that's not such a bad thing, I saw an owl in the wild for the first time about a month ago and it clawed me on the head out of nowhere when I went to walk away. It made no sound whatsoever, very startling, and gave me a bunch of cuts. Felt like someone wacking my head with a sticker-bush

  • you should keep all your vids this length... 30 sec is just not cutting it

  • @karlakinstler I thought i was the only one afraid of owls! I used to have nightmares when i was younger being lost in a pitch-dark forest being attacked by owls.

  • I think they are the best bird there is as they are so spectacular to look at. I like eagles as well for the same reason. So beautiful and majestic
