**Second Place -- Mr. Gaffey will go to South Africa to compete at the Worldwide Innovative Education Forum in October**
Title: "Project 100"
Teacher: Thomas Gaffey
Overview: The objective of Project 100 was to familiarize first-year learners with the project-based and technology-driven learning that lies at the heart of the School of the Future's mission. With a heavy focus on mathematics and technology, as well as the Microsoft Education Competencies, learners were asked to tackle real-world problems and find the answers to questions they pose themselves. In doing so, learners became active problem-solvers and acquainted with appropriate and responsible uses of technology. Learners were equipped to engage in thematic and/or interdisciplinary coursework as they grew as leaders, team players and critical thinkers.
Significant Results/Learnings: By using strong problem solving skills, students became comfortable and enjoyed working in an interdisciplinary setting. Benchmarks throughout the year showed increased performance, likely because students were more engaged.
Go Gaff. :)
