Hitchens WAS right here though - we all know Bush is a clown, and cracking jokes about him has really become the thing that dumb people laugh at. (except dumb people are usually Bush supporters)

Hitchens is generally smarter than Bill but Bill was correct here IMO. Hitchens is a bright guy but he can be very one-eyed on some issues. He also misquoted at 0:09 but he probably got that from the media which also misquoted.

Have you ever read one of his biographies? I just finished the books "Spirit of Solitude" and "Ghost of Madness" and I would safely bet he was narcissistic. He was a genius of the first degree but an utter failure as a human being.

That explains it. I didn't realize that you were some sort of neocon.

What are you talking about? Russell's political views are not his sensitivity or compassion. I guess I wouldn't have been 100% behind the Bay of Pigs - which he had much to do with - but I'm by no means conservative.

I don't understand how you could see someone who went to jail twice for their political convictions, once at I think nearly the age of 90,
as lacking compassion.

Sir, I will ask you again - have you read a thorough biography of the man? Yes, he would suffer - publicly and with great fan fare - for his principles. He would NOT do squat for his own family. He had a nasty habit of writing family members off - suddenly - if they either transgressed by disagreeing with him or inherited the family curse of schitzophrenia; this to the complete demise of these people. He would completely change his beliefs on a dime and drop everyone involved with that topic....
