E3 1996 ( Los Angeles )... Nintendo unveiled for the first-time their Silicon Graphics collaborated game console "Nintendo 64". After the E3 Press conferrence the Press was given this B-ROLL for newstations and media alike. In some of the newsclips on my channel you'll notice N64 gameplay footage. It was this Beta cassette that was used for the newsstation's alternate footage.

The N64 B-Roll:

NOTE: The gameplay footage shown was not from 100% complete N64 games. These were Japanese Betas. Even some games in the clip go from having audio - to barely having any audio - to having no audio at all.

INTERESTING TIDBITS: In the clip during "Super Mario Kart R" intro title you'll hear a tune unheard of in the final production of "Super Mario Kart 64". Be sure to crank the volume enough to hear the intro tune. Also witness a really beta version of Kirby's Air Ride" that was eventually cancelled and moved it to the Gamecube.

  • The quality for this video is awesome, probably one of the best videos for N64 betas / cancelled games. Huge props!

  • Would you agree that Magikoopa would have been better than Donkey Kong?

  • @Iffy350 it was for the gamecube

  • Kirby's Air Ride looks like it has similar gameplay to another 64 title named Snowboard Kids. I don't remember Kirby's Air Ride ever being released.

  • @Rikuproductionz yeah i know it's just that all that violence dosen't belong to nintendo. and i just noticed a typo: thankS for letting us SEE those games

  • @xxdarklink93xx It WAS but then sold to Microsoft

  • How can anyone forget Wave Race awesome game, still got it, at the time the most technically advanced graphics out, even the PSX, or any other machine could not match the water effects in this game....AWESOME!

  • Mario Kart R, lol. And the Star Fox 64 footage is kwl, it's absolutely different from the final release.

  • are we sure that rareware is a part of nintendo?

by the way... thank for letting us those games in beta version, this feel so wierd

  • It always intrigues me when I watch in-development video game footage, especially for games that I really like, such as Mario Kart.

  • i have never seen this version, but very fine lasers :)

    STARFOX
