DoDonPachi - Stage 1-1

Here is my personal best score on the insanely hard DoDonPachi.

DoDonPachi is a 1997 2d shoot-em-up (or shmup) created by Cave. It's easily one of the most popular modern shooters, with its great difficulty, unlockable (and very hard) second loop.
The game also has a really strict chain combo system, where a bar in the top corners of the screen displays, and increases every time you destroy an enemy, decreases when you are not.. it also stays at very low if you using you laser shot (hold shot/A) on a strong enemy.

DoDonPachi awards players for not getting hit with its No Miss bonus and for not using bombs with the Maximum bonus. These make the game extremely challenging, even after hundreds of hours of playing the game.

Stage 1-1 has an easy half stage combo chain, ending at the midboss, picking up the powerup when lasering the midboss can end your combo, so it is best to pick it up after beating the midboss.
The stage boss is also difficult for a first stage boss.

Question: Why at the end of level 1, when the energy became red, you don't use the super beam? You can do under 100 hits or more!

As then you lose a +X1 on your maximum bonus for using a bomb, so you drop a lot of score until then next bomb, by doing that.

Very nice, but did you try to destroy the boss' side attacks when they were rotating? It seems like you tried, but it isn't easy, is it?

Yeah, I usually do destroy the sides, my aims were to just get far when I was playing at the time, so I didn't try to maximise score.

Oh ok. Insane you got to 2-3, you were right when you didn't try to maximise score, in my opinion.

Thanks, I usually play for score in games, but DoDonPachi is too hard to play for score.

First time I played DoDonPachi was in a Panda Express in Anaheim, Ca. I'll never forget that day. Orange Chicken and DDP...classic.

Depends on the ship you use. There seems to be mutual agreement on these types being better though:

Type A: Laser

Type B: Debatable

Type C: Shot

@ResumeDPosition funny thing about that, ScHlAuChi used shot on Type A and as a result, it appeared as if the shots were more effective than laser.

Dodging the enemy fire is alot easier than it looks.

I played this game for about 2 hours am I finished it in arcade mode with no continues, and I spent $50 on the Saturn version, guess its now time for Radient Silvergun $200+
