Final proof that Lemmy and a bunch of hippies did in fact invent the Large Hadron Collider...

It actually surprises me more, that people who think they know everything there is to know about Lemmy always make a comment of astonishment when they learn he was actually in another band before Motorhead, I don't really understand their amazement at that fact to be honest. So I can only imagine their minds would be the verge of exploding if they learnt he once roadied for Jimi Hendrix...

I've not really said it isn't a Motörhead song.. It's clearly now a Motörhead track too, and that's a great thing. But that's only been able to happen because he wrote the song which entitled him to do just that. But i'm not even sure a band called Motörhead had even crossed his mind when writing it, he wrote it while he was firmly in a band called Hawkwind with the hope his bandmates would consider it a worthy Hawkwind song, and it was...

Yes, it's Lemmy's song, there's no denying that...

I see that one but still.. He named his band Motörhead and they played that song so you cant really say it isnt a Motörhead song either. Maybe it could be called a Lemmy song.

Yeah but he was in Hawkwind first, and he wrote it when he was with Hawkwind, so it's a Hawkwind track in truth. If it was a question in a pub quiz or whatever, that would be the answer...

oops yeah Bob Calvert, don't know why I said dave, anyway.this recording IS the greasy truckers version, polished up and new vocals by Lemmy, from what I remember Bob had gone awol with a mental problem.I mention a screw up as Hawkwind didn't want to mime so they insisted BBC record them at Dunstable to show instead, unknown to Hawkwind BBC then dubbed the polished greasy truckers version over it without their knowledge and that is this vid,as I said it's a TOTP vid not a promo.

I'm not really sure why you're telling me this as I know the history behind the song & video. By the way, it's not Dave Brock singing on the Greasy Truckers version live at The Roundhouse, London on 13 February 1972 (which wasn't a single) it's Bob Calvert.

Plus there was no screw up, Hawkwind just didn't want to mime to it, AND in a studio where the audience didn't reflect their fans. A compromise was met with the BBC recording them at Dunstable on 7 July 1972 and dubbing the single mix to it.

.this version is the single from Greasy truckers originally sung by dave brock but the vocals were so shit Lemmy re recorded them in the stduio, then there was some screw up at TOTP so the BBC took a video of another show with Lemmy singing and dubbed the single over it,that's this video, that's why the singing is a bit out of sync visually.so this isn't a promo it's the TOTP version.

Haha! Well, yeah that's about the size of it..

If you've never heard it before, there is a studio version of the song 'Motorhead' recorded by Hawkwind, actually there's 2 versions of it. One with lead vocals by Lemmy, and the other version was sung by Dave Brock; the main vocalist and frontman of the band since they started. The Dave Brock version is pretty awesome, check it out, it'll be the best thing you did on the day...
