It may seem like a simple concept, but it is one that took Einstien years to figure out.
this link to the Nova website is a useful tool for understanding it, and where I picked up the gaps in my knowledge on the topic (it's been a while since I researched the twin's Paradox) http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/einstein/hotsciencetwin/
If you have sufficient reason to believe I have mis-stated the ideas, don't hesitate to tell me. We all make mistakes, and ought to learn from them.

  • I don't understand either

  • I understand the concept but what I can't seem to grasp is why time dilates relative to speed. Why does this biologically effect the twin traveling?

  • Actually, this has NOT answered the question dprjones asked. It's just re-stated the phenomenon with a different example and given a specific observation of it.

You've not understood the question. Look up the concept of inertial frames of reference and re-watch the video.

  • must check out the nova site!

    5stars from here ;)
