Ball's Engineer Hydrocarbon Ceramic XV timepiece was presented in 2011. It is designed to function in very harsh conditions. The timepiece is equipped with Swiss-made ETA 2892 automatic movement that is certified by Contrôle Officiel Suisse de Chronométres (COSC) -- the Swiss institute that tests chr... onometers. Hands, numerals and indices are illuminated through the use of 31 self-powered micro gas tubes that glow 100 times brighter than luminous paint. The watch is protected from shock, magnetic influences and water penetration. The ceramic bezel is virtually scratch-proof. It rotates to mark elapsed time and is readable at night time because of the luminous markers painted on the surface. Additional useful functionalities include a date display located between 4 and 5 o'clock, sweep seconds, patented crown protection system and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating.
