no offense taken. I certainly agree about the talent level between the 2 bands.
None of the MC members were great musicians. But once you put them together, they were a very very good band.
They were extremely image conscious. I recall them promoting their new looks before Theatre, Girls, & Feelgood were released.
Y&T never pushed an image. They focused on making good songs. Unfortunately, image sold/sells more records than talent. Dave & Co. are definately 1 of the best bands of the era.
Relax. Nothing wrong if you like Crue, but there's not the same level of musical talent there. Tommy Lee was a pretty good drummer - but that's where the talent ended. Face it, Crue was a pseudo KISS wannabe band with more marketing skills than ability. Music is subjective - anybody can like anything they want - but from an objective POV, based on skill & talent, Y&T deserved more success than they achieved. Again, that's the problem with subjectivity. That's all. No offense intended.
I love Y&T. They 1 of may favorites. But to call Crue a fag band & be baffled that they were a success is silly. Sure they got more commercial after their 1st two records. But they still rocked. There are very few records from the 80's that were as in your face & heavy as Shout at the Devil.
Yeah, well after years of being ignored for being one of the best and purest bands around, they took a stab at trying to chart with some "cheese" hoping the rest of the world might notice. The most amazing thing about Dave is not his playing - but the fact that he has never thrown in the towel in an industry as unfair and pathetic as the music biz. Hard to believe fag bands like Poison and Crue are rich beyond measure and Y&T never got the respect and wealth they deserve.
I love Y & T and have for over 20 years, but this is by far there worst song ever, almost as bad as Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City" (same year, same cheese. I was at this show Saturday night and bu far this was their worst song of the night, but they had to play it. Earthshaker, Mean Streak, and Black tiger were the only albums that are incomprable to other great rock albums. In Rock We Trust broke the quality that the prior albums established.LOUSY video, song and industry choice OUCH
