  • This technique works on canvas too, right?

I want to paint a picture with a blue background and shells. The shells are supposed to have this cracked structure. How do I get larger cracks and does it work with water-diluted acrylic paint?

I would be really grateful for answers to my questions and thank you for your tutorial :)

  • @femaleStudent Hi. Yes, this will work on canvas. I would think that the more glue you use the larger the cracks and it should work with water diluted acrylic paint. Its all down to the difference in drying speeds between the glue and the acrylic paint. I suppose if you watered the acrylic down too much you may have a problem. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your immediate reply and your tips :)

I'll try this out today and when I get the effects I want, I'll do the painting with cracked shells and starfish :)

  • @femaleStudent Good luck with it. I'd be very interested to see the results

  • wow such a great and simple technique. I am trying to painting a landscape with an old bridge, will use this technique to paint the bridge. thanks so much...

  • @lynstonehewer

I finally tried this technique just a few minutes ago with a red heart on a rose background and I have to say WOW :-)

I used the cheapest liquid glue and acrylic paint and I'm totally fascinated by the effect. The cracks vary and because of the irregularity it looks better and more natural than buyable crackle paint ;-) Now I'm ready to create cracked shells&starfish :-)

Just tell me how I can send you pictures of the paintings (I don't do videos, I just watch & comment on them)

  • Eeeh. That were smashin'.

    Ta luv.

  • @lynstonehewer That's funny........and oh so true! Love the technique!
