that nice jazzy run he plays from 3.47 to 3.52 is exactly the same as Robben ford's Misdirected Blues from his mystic mile album... . around 2.09 to 2.14.. great player.
Laugh. If you see Matt and Robben side by side jamming, as they do occasionally, you shouldn't find it hard to see the differences, and the distinctive voice Matt has.
Yes he does put that lick in here straight from a RF number, but he also likes to throw in the odd reference to Hendrix, Albert Collins, SRV etc. That's what musicians do - they quote each other.
And by the way, Robben Ford didn't invent those licks. Listen to any jazzer going back to the forties to hear where it came from.
He's got great chops and feel but he has stolen the exact '16th note over a shuffle' Robben ford licks we've all stolen - I mean literally swiped them. I swiped them too but I don't use them at the gig. If he's going to push all that press about being UK's greatest, he's got to come up with his own voice.
Great player and a good man. John Henderson on keys, oh yes!!!!

Absolutely awesome. Definitely in the Robben mold, but he's got some uniqueness to his playing, too
