A close up view of my air starter working. You can see the air ram slide into position when it is engaged and then it springs back as the engine starts to pick up.

  • Hi bendy. Beautiful set up. What alternator head is that? I want to use my 6/1 for similar purposes but haven't been able to find out much about the Indian made alternators. Are they any good?

  • Hi Kgugis. Thanks for your kind words. My alternator is a chinese made ST-10. I have been very pleased with it, and have 220 hours of runtime on it so far.

Since it turned out so well, and was relatively difficult to find in Australia, I decided to become an authorised dealer of them. I sell these alternators in a number of sizes and configurations. My email is benny2000@bigpond.com. Let me know if you'd like a quote on one of these, or any of the Jkson Listeroid range. Cheers, Benny.

  • Bendy, It appears that you have the engine mounted on steel. Most of the time I have heard these engines mounted on steel they ring like a bell. What have you done to the mount to make it so quiet?

    Regards; Scott

  • Hi Scotty. It did give me a scare the first time I started it on the metal frame, since before that I had only heard it running on wooden bearers. So I thought, why not combine the two? I fitted a piece of marine ply between the engine and the metal frame, which quietened it down a fair bit. It's still louder than it was when it was on wooden bearers only, but I can live with it. I built the metal frame to make it easier to mount all the other things it drives. Cheers.

  • Bendy, that is absolutely the best Lister genset I have seen. Keep up the good work. Are you familiar with the web site Utterpower. com. Lots of accumulated Lister knowledge there.

  • Thanks very much for your compliment Scotty.

I have learned much from the Utterpower site over time.

Here in Australia, the best place I have found to buy parts for these engines is WWWDotOzlisteroidsDotcom. This engine came from there. They keep an excellent range of parts in stock and also carry ST type generators, pulleys, and other interesting stuff.
