@davidameyers I got my tail wheel checkout in the Piper Cub. It's not hard to learn and loads of fun! I wish all pilots today would learn on tail draggers like old pilots used to. Expect to finish my RV-8 next year, can't wait.

I used to go for rides like this in my Grandfathers "4" all the time when I was a kid. I miss it so much...He was building a Harmon Rocket II never got done so no Rocket Ride for me in that one =(. I am hoping one day to go back and get my PPL and build a 4 of my own. Love the sound the feeling of a 4. GREAT VID and beautiful airplane you have. Here's to many blue skies and cheaper gas prices.

Thanks for the reply. I immagine a 172 and an RV-4 is like comparing a Window Van to a Corvette. My wife never wants to go along, and I've never had rear seat passengers, so a 2 seat "Fighter Style" sport plane would probably be way more fun than a transportation special like the 172. Besides, I never really have anywhere in particular to go, making an RV more practical (and fun).
Thanks for sharing that. Make it close to Lubbock and we'll honor those memories with a fresh -4 ride.

One of the best RV-4 vids out there. I'm getting tempted to get an RV. Looks like a lot more fun than the 172 flying I've been doing. How difficult is tailwheel transition?

The -4 is in an entirely different class than the Skyhawk. You'll LOVE it. I've never had my -4 want to swap ends. I primarily wheel land it and it will handle 25kts crosswinds... so no problem. I suggest you get your TW endorsement in a Citabria (or similar) then transition to the -4. It's a pussycat and has no tendency to bite you. Good luck.
