Live at Ebony Showcase Theatre in Los Angeles, April 15th 1987

There ain't nothing I can do, or nothing I can say,
Some folks will criticize me.
So I'm gonna do just what I want to anyway,
And don't care if you all despise me.

If I should take a notion
To jump into the ocean,
It ain't nobody's business if I do.

If I go to church on Sunday
And I shimmy down on Monday,
It ain't nobody's business if I do.

And if my friend ain't got no money
And I say, "All right, take all of mine honey,"
It ain't nobody's business if I do.

If I lend her my last nickel
And it leaves me in a pickle,
It ain't nobody's business if I do.

I would rather my gal would hit me
Than to haul right up and quit me.
It ain't nobody's business if I do.

I know that she won't call no copper
If she gets beat up by her poppa.
It ain't nobody's business if I do, Lord no.
Well, it ain't nobody's business if I do.

  • Chaka may have been as high as an albatross, but she KILLED that improv! The combination of these performers produced an explosion of musical brilliance. So brief, but so great. Four very different artists---BB King-- Blues Royalty and musical genius; Gladys Knight--cute, polished, soulful but always a lady; Chaka-- searing, volcanic and freewheeling, and Etta James-- a godmother of R&B, earthy and full of salt. Ahh, to have been in that audience!

  • amazing! they are all talented for sure. but gladys' voice touches my soul every single time I hear her!

  • High? As in voice or something else? lol

  • BLUES MUSIC, For the Soul.

  • @WEEZERman1212 That doesn't mean that that white people are not wellcome, it just means that that theatre is focused on the black culture which is important when the central media is mostly owned by white people and have to show things that represents all of the USA thus wouldn't be able to satisfy the black community because of under representation of the black culture. That is what these specified places patch up.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Ain't Liberty Grand!!!...

  • Chaka was high as a kite. Thank God she got clean.

  • The guy playing harmonica at the end, you can only see the back of his head, is Delbert McClinton.

  • It should be illegal to have that much talent in one room...I live for moments like these, when legends and respected artists/vocalists all come together and enjoy singing with one another.

  • yeah gladys got the best voice ever
