This movie is based on a real-life case, in 1925 two great lawyers argue the case for and against a science teacher accused of the crime of teaching evolution.
Directed by Stanley Kramer, starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March and Gene Kelly.

Pretty much defines the disputes we still feel in our own times. Not all religionists today have the same kind of literalist interpretations of the Bible depicted in the film. I really do not consider that this film is anti-religious..just anti-fundamentalist. I heard a Catholic priest once give a lecture on this subject. I never forgot it. His point against the literalists was that the Bible was always intended to be a compendium of faith...but was NEVER INTENDED as a science text book. Never.

@Eye2EyeIIIV Except creation ministries ARE stupid, and being against reason they can only lead to a mean and abusive culture... one need only see truly Muslim countries (or the Inquisition years) to see why.

@MrErockHiphop ..What are you talking about? Is there a more important message than the Bible is not a science text book? Of course there is. Yet many American fundamentalists...as depicted in this film...believe that the earth is 6,000 years old, and that the Bible is the "inerrant" word of God...on ALL subjects, including science. This is precisely what this film is about. So I ask you again: What are you talking about?

@followthefleet1 wow and that what you took from his lecture? i hope he had a more important message in the speech... 1 god is all knowing therefore you don't have to kill each other but yall did it anyway. You think god will understand someone not going to church? DUH he is all knowing... so many religious people dont think and thats the problem. and its not gods fault yall accept everyone and wonder why things go wrong? plus there has got to be something wrong with how its being taught...
