Piano roll midi file played on PowerTracks Pro and reproduced on an M-Audio digital piano. These piano roll midi files were created by some wonderful folks from (International Association of Mechanical Music Preservationists). Whom, without their diligent and tireless work this music would surely have been lost. This roll is one in a series made by the Ampico company for the reproducing piano. This was one of the technologies of the day to capture the piano by reproducing the touch of the artist. Most conventional piano rolls only played back the notes at a single volume. There are various pieces on the roll, but the one I like best is Deep Purple.

Thank you for your comment...Yes I agree, the midi adds a whole new dimension to a reproducing piano. I'm afraid I have not gotten to experience the old reproducers first hand, but I think it is a fascinating technology from days gone by. My hope one day will be to have an electronic player system put in my Chickering grand, so that I might enjoy all these wonderful pieces of music on a REAL piano. You might want to contact a group of folks called Roll Scanners who made these midi files. Enjoy!

That's fascinating. This new MIDI stuff makes me want to get back into reproducers again. Any leads on a Mason AA with late A expression?
