  • Actually, Warren recorded Back in the High Life on his "Life'll Kill Ya" album in 2000 and was not diagnosed with his terminal mesothelioma cancer until 2002

  • Agreed

  • my pleasure

  • Thanks for posting. I hadn't heard this version before. This is way, way, way better than the original version, which I used to love. Now when I hear that version, I want this one. LOL.

  • Hell yes. Thank you.

  • steve winwood murders this tune cool melow version here

  • @arfalon Well, now, you'll have to tell me "who's to say" : ) While respecting your opinion, (on liking "equally well")... I stand by mine. I much prefer Warren's cover....period. As for opinions concerning who has lived what, a totally different topic for another time. For me (I love Winwood's work...alot of it, for sure, plus... he's married to a local gal...always helps a little) : ) The J.T. experiment sounds lovely. Now, after a few more listens, I'm thinking W.Z. owns it, more than B 4.

  • Who are the 3 losers who don't like? Love Warren....rip

  • @kneapoe51 Well, now, I won't say it's better, but I like it equally well and for entirely different reasons. One really cool thing to do - if you can, sing the James Taylor harmony part from the Winwood version [itself an unexpected line, imo] along with this one. Makes a very sweet and unusual 3-part! Love BOTH versions, and who's to say that Winwood didn't "live it" nor that he fails to communicate that as well? :)

  • nice version

  • Great Cover!! Sounds like a Zevon song. He made it his own. Miss Warren, he was the BEST!!!

  • zevon was simply great, and very unique

  • My new favorite song. Again. Warren Zevon is as close to 'god' as I'll ever want to be.

  • Whenever I hear this version, I picture Warren Zevon singing to a mirror and making a promise to himself. I'm currently making a sandwich and I'm gonna make it last a while. God bless you Warren. Thanks for the upload. Take it easy.---Kirk

  • @griffm5 You might say... "Enjoy every sandwich"

Cheers mate (Yep, I'm an Aussie)
