On 10/14/09, BNSF 1095 hit the cab of a truck around 4:30 PM, and after hearing that a collision occured on my scanner, headed down to see what happened exactly. So these were some pictures and videos i took when i got there. Weird thing was i saw the same 2 engines 2 weeks earlier only 1.5 miles from where the collision occured. Heard the truck driver jumped out before impact and it was true. As far as i know everyone was alright, but an ambulance came to the aid of the crew on 1095 for assurance. (P.S. The truck stalled on the tracks after hbis tires dropped off the pavement and he went for help to get the truck off but only about 5 minutes later the train came by and hit the truck.)

The tank the truck had was an unfinished tank car that was going to Trinity Industries Plant #17 for painting, body work, wheels, trucks, etc to be shipped out on outbound westbound trains later. The truck was turning into the plants road when he got hit by this North Little Rock destined train.

  • wow, that sucks.

aye, what's the song in the background?

  • @andrewtran19 Song is Matrix

  • Some of you must really be morons to post the statements here. THINK BEFORE you write. If the truck was at the crossing five minutes before the train, then he obviously did not run through or around crossing gates. Sometimes bad things happen that are just bad luck, like it appears here. Tires dropping off pavement on a load like this trucker had would be bad luck, unplanned, and I am sure he did his best to move the truck before the train arrived. Horrible feeling to be that trucker.

  • Exactly right, but in their defense, i posted the tires dropped off the pavement and looked for help after i knew it was true, the video was posted about 5 hours after the collision when everything wasnt so clear

  • did the driver get fiend?

  • if you mean to say fired yes, from what ive been told if these drivers even run around the gates there suspended

My step dad is a truck driver too and I hope he would never EVER do such a terrible thing by crossing the railroad track and get hit by a train.

  • @goreds03 I would guess he did. Why would he take a chance with a train? I bet he realizes now it would have been worth just waiting the 5 minutes than try to beat it. I've driven a tractor trailer 16 years and all I care about is being safe. Trying to beat a train is just plain dumb. There is nothing to gain.

  • as most of you can see from the video the train enigines werent that far down the tracks from the crossing wich means the train was slowed or almost stopped. as for the trucks tires off the pavement, well it happens. i have seen companies order items like this and make it to be shipped out no caring what happens when after it is on the truck. from the looks of it the driver did what he could to get it off but trains do take a long time to stop. another few minutes prolly never would have happen

  • Thank you, Lansing, for your good information!

Any idea how the trucker managed to get his wheels off the pavement?

Could not use wheels remaining on the pavement to get off?

He should have called 9-1-1 and had police go both directions far down the track and flag any approaching trains. PD dispatch would also have called the railroad.

  • @andrewtran19 its called clubbed to death

  • im guessing he died

  • How ironic that the tank car didn't even have it's trucks and wheels installed and never been on rails and it was involved in a train accident!!

  • I'm a truck driver. You can be fired, depending on what company you work for. As for a suspention. Absolutly. People do stupid things; doesn't matter what kind of vehicle you drive.

  • @LansingJct The same thing almost happened in Braidwood, Il but luckly that was averted.
