With all the swimbaits on the market its menacing to try and choose the right bait in the right color. Matt Allen of tacticalbassin.com breaks down a few simple tips that will help you master the swimbait technique without breaking the bank.

  • If you're talking about the 8" huddleston probably the silver blue back. You can add a big shad dot to it. Honestly though, throw whatever color you want. They're looking at it as a big meal, not whether or not it looks perfectly like a shad.

  • Absolutely! Trout is a great color in lakes with no trout.

  • Honestly, I really don't use the phantom colors. The traditional colors keep catching fish. :-)

  • Yes, Kokanee are a type of salmon and bass eat them just like they do trout. :-)

  • @tacticalbassin hey Matt im only 15 years old and been fishing for only 2 years now and on feb. 4th is opening day for trout season on my lake and a couple of older guys i know arent going for trout theyre going for bass i was wondering if you can give me any tips on what kind of swimbaits to use what kind of places to fish and how to work them please let me know open to any suggestions.
