The thin end of the wedge, from "Exotic Birds & Fruit", 1974, once called by Gary Brooker "the ugliest song I ever wrote". Personally I find this number quite intriguing. After the promotional tour in the '70s I know of only two performances. notice the unique drumming approach of Mark brzezicki, totally different from what Bj Wilson did live or to what was done afterwards by Graham Broad, during the Redhill concert.

Fascinating song.

I always loved this song. Very sinister in parts but also falls into that very conventional sounding chorus before getting mysterious and threatening again. It has its own peculiar beauty and also has some interesting jazzy undertones. Challenging, to say the least. Not crazy about the plodding drum intro, though. BJ really did shine on this one live (I remember a live performance at The Felt Forum in NYC - wonderful version!). Of course, Whitehorn always playes tasty guitar.....
