@PossiblyPorn no not really. originally dubstep was meant to be a mix between dub an 2 step. dub techniques to make spacey beats and basslines like reverbs and delays + a 2step dancable rhythm = dubstep. but it evolved -> actually the midrange bass sounds became extremely popular and thus brostep was created. btw sry for my english
