Here is how I made Strawberry & Banana Fruit Butter:
If your canning have a large pot to can fruit butter (water bath method), preserve jars, canning kit (for ease). Otherwise...
Bananas, can of strawberries (use the juice also), 1.5 cups sugar, 1.5 cups of crushed gram crackers, and a crock pot. (a blender may help also if you have one).
Mash or blend ingredients together-gram crackers last (use blender here if you want really smooth fruit butter, then pour into crock pot) leave cover half off crock pot to let condense, and cook on high for 3 hrs and on low for 30 mins. OR cook on low for 6 to 8 hrs.
Once condensed to your desire, place in sterile jars and seal-clean off any spillage around lid first, then place into boiling water bath (water should come at least 1 inch over top of jars) for 5 minutes if you are using pint jars or jam jars and 10 minutes if you are using larger jars. After the water bath, set jars upside down for about a day to get a really good seal.
If your Not canning, put fruit butter in fridge to chill for treats and/or desert. If you really want something special, place onto of angle food cake mini cakes with or without whipped cream, and/or ice cream, or just vanilla ice cream by itself. I am told my strawberry & Banana fruit butter taste like Banana pudding w/ strawberries. (A VERY high complement!)

  • This ia rather entertaining me... OH WOW! You're stirring! It made me jump ahaha. Anywho, I don't actually cook much (I am sure the World is a much better place without my cooking) but this entertained me. (though your blender nearly killed me)

    :D

  • thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Too dark, can't see. It is not approved by the FDA to add any grain or flour to a product that is to be canned, that would include graham crackers. They can harbor fungus that won't be killed in cooking/canning.
