This is the second section of the 'rock single' (unused) title song for the film "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane", merged with the Andy Williams TV performance Bette Davis did so she sings the complete song. You can hear a young singer duet with her at the end, who also sings the opening section on the single instead of Bette. This masterpiece of restoration and editing surpasses any else on this site, anything ever attempted in the history of recorded sound, and should unsure a Grammy for me when the academy gets around to recognizing YouTube feats. I just hope I'm old enough to lift it and cackle by time that happens.

  • @jonthesYT this is great! well done :) where can I get the original single? I can only find the version sung by bette davis

  • @TheVivaciousNerd It's been issued on CD in two places I know of, a DRG comp of rare Hollywood material and on the WB Film Music box set. The first section I dubbed and cleaned off the Andy W. extra on the "Baby" double DVD, then edited the second section from the DRG issue of the single. I sent it to Charles Busch, seemed to be an appropriate recipient.

  • I know it's like pasting Mona Lisa into the Last Supper, but it had to be.

  • @jonthesYT thanks :)

  • @AuburnRed1 I do think the upbeat vibe adds a perfect sense of irony that only darkens the whole...

  • I believe the girl who does the singing at the end is the same one who does the singing voice for young Baby Jane in the movie. Very nice editing. The song is really cute, but I don't know may be a bit too upbeat for the movie. But it is a good song.

  • Nice merging!
