I have tried for almost a year to describe how special this mare has been to me. Josie, bought at an auction as a 9 y/o Arabian Bay Mare with Anchor D on her left shoulder, wasn't anything I thought she'd be. As I loaded her in my trailer, excited on my first horse buy (after riding my aunts for years..) I then realized my project.. she loaded great.. but had a lot of go and she was very green. After I got her home I threw down a few bales of straw, a bucket of oats and some water. As weird as she turned out to be.. unpredictable, weirdest peeing stance.. ever!, and the look in her eye letting me know she chose me was unforgetable. From January 26th 2009 to July 23rd 2009.. I realized how much I was actually learning about this horse. She was the best thing that had ever happened around our lonely ranch, she gave me something to do.. she gave me a life for once. As I rode her, the more time I spent with her, I realized how someone stole rides off of her. She hated leaving the heard and I would at times have to keep my spur in between her rib cage. Originally, I bought her as a barrel prospect, seeing she wouldn't make me one of those for a few years and with drought in the way, I had to sell her. She was the only horse that has ever taught me to teach. Even being bucked off of this horse about 8 times, I understood her. I almost had her sold to a really nice girl but that deal was cut short. I had to send her to an auction. I really miss my mare. She taught me to be understanding and paitent, loving, caring and outgoing. The best thing I learned from this horse was to always find new beginnings, no matter where you are.
@Sockatears101 thank you very much!
