1939/40 RCA Victor Victor Model A33 Globe Trotter Console Radio. A sticker in the back of the RCA Console shows "Lofthouse Brothers Radio and Appliance Store"; this is most likely where the original purchase came from. Lofthouse Brothers Radio and Appliance Store was a successful radio and appliance store in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Through the 1930's and 40's, this store would become a neighbourhood landmark on Oak Street in Vancouver. This 1939/40 RCA A33 Globe Trotter Console Radio was Canadian made in Montreal. • That is truly a work of art!

  • @Brookside975 - Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you like the radio.

  • Hi drdave2468,

The radio in this video, "being in the working condition it is in", is probably worth a bit more than I paid ($400) depending who the buyer is.....if I were to sell it...., (but being the sentimental person I am, I'll be keeping it) I paid mostly for the work the person put into fixing the radio(s) I have two of them, one is a GE, in another video I have and I paid less money for that one.

Is the radio you inherited the same as my RCA in the video?

  • wow! GREAT showpiece!

  • Thanks for the comment and I appreciate the compliment on the radio.

  • i have a 1939 table-top version of this radio.. its not been powered since 60's... if only someone could restore it

  • cool

  • It's worth $50,000 Now list it on Fleabay, ha, ha. But seriously they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them, that was the answer.

  • @OlegKostoglatov so with all your talking you still didnt answer my question! lol

  • To have an early 40s RCA, or almost any other old radio, restored by someone else could easily cost more then someone else would be willing to pay for the set. I have a few Canadian G.E console and table models for those years and they used the same chassis as the RCAs, they are good sets but an investment they are not. As a rule most collectors prefer the table model versions (if there is one) unless it is a high end model as they take up a lot of room and are still very common.

  • It depends on the condition and where you live, as a rule 1940s consoles are not especially sought after and an as is one is litterally worth whatever someone will pay for it. Radio collectors don't tend to be as interested in 1940s consoles as they would be in a 1930s one as they all look similar regardless of brand, ruler dial, pushbuttons, etc. Is yours the exact make and model of the one in this video, an RCA A33, or is it just similar?

  • could somebody please tell me the value of one of those , I just inherited one!
