  • First PC that have Whine was MACBook and HP Pavillion... so... you can say this for EVERY BRAND.

Yapped: Why hard drive? HD work when you are in BIOS option too?.. mmmm...

  • ok... Two technicians come to my home and replace mainboard of M65 with a new mobo. Seems like resolve problem... but after two days have new different whine sounds. Search for DELL WHINE and play the PART TWO of my story.... :(

  • Note: I'm waiting DELL technician tomorroe. I hope he have the key....

  • I wantedt to buy this laptop from Dell but now I don't want to buy it. It might have same problem.

  • Unplug and run off bat, still make the sound? If not, Does your laptop have a 3 prong plug that plugs into the power supply brick? If so, go find an old figure 8 style 2 prong cable, split it slighty with a razor, and jam into the 2 top holes should fit nice and snug. Alternitve is a 3 prong to 2 prong + ground tab adapter.. dollar store usually has these. Works 100% of the time through speakers/amps and usually any other noise issue.

  • I have the same problem with my brain new Dell. please let me know what you did to fix this.

  • ...what has actually been most annoying is toshiba's customer service, who basically just told me to keep taking my laptop back to different service centers until it's fixed, yet I noticed all toshiba's with AMD processors make the noise (went to circuit city and best buy, stuck my ears up to the laptops there) so how does anyone possibly think its going to get fixed? Im considering taking toshiba to court just to get a decent laptop that doesnt ring my skull

  • Wow, this whine is pretty bad. My toshiba makes a similar noise, though its not as annoying as this.

  • My Dell *DESKTOP* makes the same exact noise when Vista's power settings are set to "power saver."

I even followed along on the same pages in this video, and the "shhhh--shhh-shh" sound nearly identical. Of course since I have a desktop, I can only hear mine if the case is open.

The sound comes from around the processor. My guess is that it's the inductors resonating at a specific voltage.

    Amazing.

  • mine is more worse. it is on dell please help . the noise has been on for about 2 whole days.

  • what a nightmare

  • yea... mine is doing that too... well not as bad as yours, but once it begins to warm up, it makes that noise... I have a Dell Inspiron 6400. Is this noise like ok? is my laptop going to break down after a while using it?

  • replace mb! noise corresponds to whats on screen.
