Star Ocean: The Last Fail (AKA how LuccaRPG and DNW cope with corny RPGS) 3/3

Ahem. A little bit of backstory on this one.

As good friends, DNW and I play vast amounts of RPGs together. We've done this for 14+ years now! We've played really great RPGs, and then we've played not so great RPGs.

Don't get me wrong, Star Ocean 4 really isn't THAT bad. We're just old RPG curmudgeons and huge fans of MSTK3000 and Riftrax, and we riff or poke gentle fun at corny RPG lines and cliches.

This is just one example of that.

The whole reason why Star Ocean 4 happened: They all learned how to hack via watching all the episodes of Star Trek, however, this crew failed that class and thus that is what they get crash landed on a planet with god knows what, yay for them!

That "I'll take 3,5, and 9... you handle the rest" part was funny, and moreso when you suggested they were like 200 in all.

Wow...it just sort of glided gracefully, and then hit like a ton of bricks, didn't completely crush itself, but skidded laterally across the surface. Spbbt.

Also liked how the people were being jostled so bad during 'turbulence', but the ship wasn't moving AT ALL. This game would have done better if the plot was 'these characters are actors, and they're making a bad space TV show, but you control them like it was real'. Then the awful things would be actual parodies and puns!
