Baylor's Brittany Griner earns Preseason All-Big 12 Player of the Year after the 6-8 sophomore post averaged 18.4 points and 8.5 rebounds during her rookie season. Her 223 blocks rank sixth on the Big 12 career list and set the NCAA Division I record for blocks in a season. She helped lead the Lady Bears to the 2010 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four semifinals.

Preseason All-Big 12 Newcomer of the year is Baylor forward Brooklyn Pope. Pope transferred to Baylor from Rutgers, where she saw action in 29 of the team's 34 games in 2008-09 with averages of 2.1 points and 2.0 rebounds.

And, Preseason All-Big 12 Freshman of the year is Baylor guard Odyssey Sims. She racked up over 20 points per game in her senior season at Irving-MacArthur high school and earned WBCA/State Farm National High School Player of the Year award. She was also named a WBCA, Parade magazine and McDonalds All-American

All-Big 12 Preseason Team:
Baylor's Brittney Griner headlines the 2010-2011 All-Big 12 preseason team at center. In 2009, Griner helped the Bears to a Final Four appearance. She set an NCAA blocked shot record with 223 blocks while averaging 18 points per game. Her effort was enough to earn numerous Freshman of the Year honors in 2009.
Joining Griner from the Baylor Bears is guard Melissa Jones. The senior captain averaged ten points per game last year while leading the squad in steals despite missing over a month due to injury. This season, she's expected to perform like she did as a sophomore, when she led the team in 3-point shooting percentage.
Also at guard is Iowa State's Kelsey Bolte. She was Iowa State's second-leading scorer last year with 12.3 points a game and led the squad with 84 three-pointers - good for second in the Big 12. She also contributed 4.5 rebounds a game and dished out 48 assists.
Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson joins the All-Big 12 squad at guard after earning WBCA State Farm Coaches All-America selection last year while helping lead the Sooners to the Women's Final Four. She was also an All-Big 12 First Team selection. Robinson merited All-Big 12 Defensive Team honors and a place on the Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Tournament Team.
Texas A&M's Danielle Adams is a preseason All-Big 12 selection at the forward/center position. Adams was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and to the All-Big 12 Second Team last season. The senior led the Aggies with 16.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in 2009-10. She was also selected Most Outstanding Player of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship.
