(cont 1) through a piece of diamond or any other solid without at least one of them breaking (your finger or the solid). However, it does mean that the quantum state of other electrons outside of the diamond is not affected by anything you do to electrons inside it.

It is actually worse than that - the pauli principle only applies to fermions and while electrons are fermions combinations of electrons may not be. For example a helium atom is a boson and so the pauli principle applies only to the electrons within the helium atom but not outside of it. Simialrly with a diamond, I am pretty sure that a diamond is a boson and so the pauli principle does not apply to it as a whole. It applies to pieces of it, which is why you can't slide a finger (cont 1)

No. If you replace 'energy levels' with 'quantum state' everything, except the formulation of the Pauli Exclusion Principle, is still wrong.

Are you sure about this? Is there something you can cite? I am actually genuinely very interested to know.
