I show how to wire a car stereo up to use in your room use and old pc power supply.

steps:
1. attach green wire to any black wire to ground it
2. wire stereo wires correctly to the wires on the power supply 12v is yellow / ground is black / acc is yellow also
3. enjoy

be careful, best way it to soilder or crimp the wires together, not really a good idea to use tape like i did, lol

  • Ya know, maybe I'll find some old computer power supplies, and make homemade boomboxes with them. Maybe I could use the shell of an old computer as a car radio and speaker housing.

  • @SamuraiClinton that would be really cool

  • Is it ok to connect the stereo to a home amplifier via RCA constantly? on another video the guy said it will make the headunit go up in smoke...

  • @02tnewton

i have a home surround sound system that has an rca connection from my tv, i pluged the radio into it and it had no problems

  • hi, i followed this instructions and everything is nice. But when i turn the radio to aux mode in order to use the speakers through, the sound cames very low and with static.

    Can you help me? thks!

  • @arpag aux mode is and input for like an ipod or mp3 player, not an output for speakers

  • @PSPHaCkErAOD Of course it would!

Besides, secondhand goods need to be re-marketed with a different approach!

  • @PSPHaCkErAOD YEAH!!!!

    I don't use headphones, EVER!

I want others to hear what I'm listening to when I use my iPod.

  • It must me 12V , But when do you plug wires wrong holes, then is 5V And doesn't work :D

    But Thanks !!

  • How Much Ampers is in there?,

  • @02tnewton RCA is a very low voltage low amperage, audio video cable. No way itll ever make your stereo go up in smoke, unless you that the other end connected to a car battery?

  • I've never thought about doing this until I saw this video. I have a couple of head units that were quality pieces back in their day, just lying around. Pulled out my spare power supply and viola. After over 14 years, my old Alpine still sparkles... as well as my newer Clarion. Thanks for the great idea man!

  • It works!

    Thanks :)

  • Thanks for quick lesson! It really helps!
