  • Ewa's and Derek's voices were absolutely perfect for this movie. Ragin's voice timbre is what Farinelli suppose to have, but his vocal scale was only at 50% of Farinelli's range. Ewa with her timbre of voice almost identical to Derek, could continue to upper scale of Farinelli. However, there are arias in this movie performed by Ewa or Derek exclusively, with each of them being "Farinelli" at 100%.

  • Bosko :) sam jestem kontratenorem,a postać Farinelli'ego jest dla mnie fenomenalna ;)

  • Why not Dariusz Paradowski...

  • scholl is better, though loved dionisi

  • further mor sfkb, you weren't there in the baroque at all... there was scooping all over the place and there was vibrato and such things existed before bach. it's not like it was decided to vibrate after bach's death in erurope unilaterally. no one knows what the contratenor could actually do. no one alive today no matter what the descriptions..... we weren't there end of story. scholl??? kiehr???? good grief. such mediocre singers.

  • in 1994, scholl was no one. and i think the combination is incredible. they are great. i loved them both and the combination thereof. actually scholl??? how do people cite such a mediocre countertenor as someone to look up to?

  • not is real ¡

  • Sony engineers were fairly good for 1993; however, the directors who chose the two singers made a huge mistake. Neither the countertenor nor the soprano had a voice or technique anything close to that of the descriptions of the castrato voice. They could have come much closer had they used singers like Andreas Scholl and Maria Cristina Kiehr. Both had pure voices, perfectly controlled technique and vibrato (no warbling or sliding), and had been trained in Baroque style and technique.

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEE!!

  • c'est magnifique

    simplemente maravillosos Ewa malas

    imponenete

    sorpredente

    y el contratenor estupendo

  • I read there was no splicing of the two voices in this scene and Lascia, but I can't be totally sure. I will check again. But yes, I know about the splicing! Have to admit, it's a great idea! I love their voices! Ciao, Donna

  • You're listening to the magic of the computer-splicing of the voices of a (very talented) soprano and a (quite impressive) counter-tenor making for the unearthly voice of the castrati, the most talented and best-trained singing machines of their time.
