  • My son is not aspergers, but has the autism diagnosis. I have always talked openly about autism to friends and family. Many opportunities to explain it to his older sister began when she was about 5. However, my son did not realize that he was different, or even pay attention to conversations going on around him until age 14. One book I found helpful was Catherine Faherty's "Aspergers, What does that mean to Me". It in workbook form to use with the child.

  • Profound advice from one of the world's leading authorities on autism.

  • Thank you, Mr. Shore. My husband and I have been struggling with the When and How to tell our 7 year-old (and brilliant) son about his diagnosis. He's not yet asking the questions, but we are now priming him with lots of talk about the individual strengths and differences of all of the people we know. His self-esteem is lovely right now, and we hope it will continue to be intact as he grows into his teens and beyond.

You do great work! Thanks again!

  • Good one. And very informative. Thanks nlconcepts and Stephen Shore
