Ptarmigan Tunnel, Glacier National Park

Hiking up to Ptarmigan Tunnel. From the Many Glacier side the trail rises gradually up to the falls (aside from a couple steep rises right at the trail head). At the Iceberg Lake/Ptarmigan trail split, the trail rises almost nonstop up to Ptarmigan lake. It is noticeably steeper on this leg. The lake is a great rest spot before going up the final switchbacks to the tunnel, the steepest part of the hike. Awesome views and well worth the effort to make the final push to the tunnel.
