A Step Too Far

I am just now getting reacquainted with the musical Aida. I remember a few years ago I played this song on repeat a lot. Not to mention that I will get to see and possibly meet Adam Pascal when the Rent tour comes to my area ^_^. I am well aware that this would make much more sense with Ahiru, Rue, and Mytho, but I feel that Fakir fits the part of Radames much better, mostly because both he and Adam Pascal are SEXY AS HELL and just like I picture Ahiru with Heather Headley's voice, I can just as easily picture Fakir with Adam's voice. And of course I felt Rue was a great fit for Amneris as the popular but insecure Egyptian princess, as well as using Sherie Rene Scott's voice with her. Use your imagination with this one.
The basic idea is that Ahiru (Aida) and Fakir (Radames) are in love, but there is also the issue of Rue (Amneris), that he is betrothed to (I'M NOT A FAKIR/RUE SHIPPER, THIS IS FOR AU PURPOSES ONLY!) And Rue is missing him. This is how all 3 of them are feeling at the moment.
