De veelvraat of warg (Gulo gulo) is de grootste op het land levende soort uit de familie der marterachtigen. De naam veelvraat slaat niet op zn eetgedrag, maar komt van het oudnoorse Fjellfräs, wat bergkat of rotskat betekent.
De veelvraat verblijft in een hol in een rotshelling in dichte struiken of tussen de rotsen. Hij is zowel overdag als 's nachts actief en jaagt meestal vanuit een hinderlaag. Ze leven solitair in arctische gebieden.
