  • Great video thanks. I have an issue. I am an dance music producer using ableton live. When I switch from my built in phones out to the mk3 firewire out on my macbook it sound worse. I can't figure out how to EQ the output to the monitor (if thats even the prob). I am not sending anything through the mic inputs. Only through the firewire. Any ideas how to get a chunkier output with more mid range and low end? it sounds thin and it is supposed to sound better due to the sample rate and bit depth.

  • @spiritmedicine42 This interface does sound better than built-in Mac sound card. What makes the Mac's perceived quality better is raised lows and Hi-mid's in its frequency response. You can twick the same to your own liking on MOTU by selecting the "Outputs" tab in the software mixer and adjusting the EQ on the channel that currently patched to your headphone output. (Could be master by default or something else if you changed it already).

  • Hey! Thanks for the video. It was very useful.

I was wondering... if I wanted to do live recordings with my band with this, connected via USB or FIREWIRE to my laptop, will I have all the separated tracks in my DAW or just the final MIX?

Sorry if my question is stupid, I'm a beginner on this :)

  • @shkcdp You can have all the separate tracks (8 at a time)

  • @CreativeMusicians. THank you. Just figured it out. I was going out of the main out only on the left side and thought I was getting a mono signal but it was only sending one side of the stereo output. I am now going out the phones jack on the front and it sounds great. I'm sure once I get some nice monitors and am using both the L and R outputs on the main outs, it will sound right. Thanks again for the help.

  • Just great! Thanks for all this valuable information.

  • @WarBeer Bravo et merci merci merci.Ca c est du travail.Congratulations.Jamais vu un video comme ca.et encore merci.Je fait enfin marcher ma MOTU.

  • @CreativeMusicians Thank you very much!

    Excellent work you're doing! Congratulations!

  • Wonderful, wonderful job, guys. I truly appreciate you taking the time to detail all of this information.

  • Can you tell me if the headphones/monitor volume on this unit is loud enough to be useful. I've got a Focusrite Saffire 6 that is just TOO weak....by the time you trim the gain down to clean....you have no "head fill"...just weak...and uninspiring.
