@JessHonks1 Thank you Jess! and thanks for posting! Never considered myself pretty, but I love acting as well as singing ... giving the personnage a depth that surpasses the music. You know, if you FEEL what you should be feeling when you sing, your voice automatically adjusts to add the feeling.

''Luciano Pavarotti was well into his 40's before he attained the artistic maturity of the 30-year old RV here''

Wow! I can't believe Sr. Vargas can also look so good! Also who are the bass and the baritone? The whole ensamble is lovely. Thank you very much for the video, more please!

By artistic maturity,I mean vocal development, dramatic involvement, ability to vocally express strong emotions, rage, pathos, etc. Pav attained some vocal heft and became more involved in his perfs much later in his career. RV was still in his 20's when he debuted in Europe singing Edgardo,Nemorino,Almaviva,Elvino. By 30,he was already doing heavy Rossini roles,Werther,Faust among other things. If you have any videos of the young Pav doing comparable stuff, I'd love to see them.

Having seen videos of RV's arias and duet from the '94 Madrid LUCIA on YouTube and live performances at the Met as Edgardo, this video of the '91 Lucia here has compelled me to conclude that Ramon Vargas is indeed the greatest of Edgardos. Luciano Pavarotti was well into his 40's before he attained the artistic maturity of the 30-year old RV here. This video also confirms my assessment that RV started as full lyric, not leggero as most critics claim.I'm also impressed by KC as a singing actress.TY
