How should you behave when you are pulled over by the police? What are your rights, and if you receive a ticket what can you expect? Professor Michael L. Coyne tells you everything you need to know on this episode of The Massachusetts School of Law's A Point of Law.

The Massachusetts School of Law also presents information on important current affairs to the general public in television and radio broadcasts, an intellectual journal, conferences, author appearances, blogs and books. For more information visit mslawledu.

  • COP IN A SUIT!

  • He just said what's rights you don't have and one obligation. What's The law that states you have to identify yourself? What's the courts definition of identify and yourself? What's legal definition of obligation? That was just another fluff peace. That's fine.

  • What kind of idiot is this guy? You have limited obligations as the driver.. You are obligated to provide a drivers license, and depending on local laws proof of insurance and registration. Beyond that you have no obligations. As a passenger you have no obligations to provide id. The officer must have a reasonable articulable suspicion that you have have/are/will commit a crime to trigger the requirement for identification..

  • @jsc2385 when you have an out of balance justice system, you gotta fight as hard as you can... to family/friends, yes your advice is most excellent

  • @john17972 wierd... I thought the exact same thing before I read any comments. This guy says your obligated to identify yourself AND cooperate. I would say yes to the first part, but not to cooperating.

The best advice is to say and do as little as possible which is pretty much just identifying yourself and then remain silent.

  • This man did not state anything about legal rights.

  • why all the thumbs down? it was good advice.

  • @jsc2385 Did I blame anything on anyone, did I say I was proud or did I use an experience as an example? I simply started by complaining about cops bothering me while I am jogging. Your the one who ASKED ME a question about what would I do if I got robbed at night, and I told you I DONT FEAR that kinda stuff... Perhaps you live in fear, I dont know but I live in "the now" and have always handled myself well in those situations. I came here for advice not to argue with you so bug off...

  • @OooHesGood ALL COPS LIE! ALL JEWS are greedy... All Hispanics are illegal immigrants, All Asians are bad drivers! All Black are Gangbangers! You tell 'em! I had no idea you are immortal! Are you proud of being shot? Badge of honor! "I've been shot and didn't die! Yes!" A real MAN admits that he's mortal..dosn't blame the WORLD's problems on them fuckin police

  • @jsc2385 hahah listen kid, when your a man you don't need the help of anyone just because they have a shiney metal badge, it doesn't mean shit to me. I can handle myself, Ive been stabbed and shot at and I came out fine by myself. No help needed here! I'm a MAN...
