Tom Sansonetti is a lobbyist for casinos and for mining companies. He's a partner at the Holland & Hart lobbying firm. He also is a former General Counsel for the Republican National Committee - not exactly a nonpartisan qualification. Now Tom Sansonetti is a member of the Board of Advisors for Americans Elect, a new political party. What does that tell you about the partisan agenda of Americans Elect?

  • The Koch Bros, Paul singer are probably behind this, for sure. They also, veto rights over the selection made by its participants. this is not democratic, and I say is possibly illegal and treasonous. They want to privatize SS and put everything into the hands of the private sector. This group wants totalitarian control of this country for the plutocracy. Do not be fooled by them. They are not your friends, nor do they care about America or its people.

  • SEE: "Y Occupy" video

  • Bah so a 3rd horse wants to enter the race and you have a problem with it? How about the board of advisers for Democrats Republicans.Regardless i get the same people on the boards of any same party. AND they all use LOBBYIST and Special Intrest This way i get more options and if u did Americans elect ud see that most delegates are environmental friendly and progressive for reform. So we put someone up there it doesn't work bam its dead in the water much like the populace movement of the 30's.

  • America obviously didn't watch to see where Obama got his money. Just throwing that in.

  • The main goal of AE is to provide an open forum for all Americans to express their political views without having them pigeon-holed by the ideologies of the current political parties. I don't see why you find them suspect.

  • Again, if you had actually investigated AE, you would find that people are polled on issues to see where they stand with their fellow citizens. No where on the site will you ever encounter a specific endorsement of one parties agenda or policy initiatives. Merely, it is a way to gauge how actual Americans stand on the political spectrum. To say that AE is partisan or biased would be to akin so saying that the Census is biases in reporting demographics.

  • Secondly, it doesn't matter who contributes to Americans Elect nor how much they contribute since Americans Elect is merely a conduit for citizens to participate in political discussions and eventually nomination. Look at it this way, Americans Elect (AE) is an organization that asks people what they are looking for in a nominee and polls them about how they stand on current policy issues. Never does it attempt to inject partisanship within the discussion by promoting a specific agenda.

  • First of all, Americans Elect is not a new party, so you're mistaken there. If you bothered to to your research into Americans Elect, you would have known that the group does not have a set ideology to promote, does not have a structured political stance, and does not function in nominating candidates the same way traditional candidates do. Americans Elect promises a direct nomination of the presidential candidate rather than the primary system used by parties.
