@FloridaGardenKid The media to sow seeds in are available at "the orchid seedbank project" Google search it, it'll be the1st. They also have seeds, books and other stuff for sale. You can achieve a close to sterile environment by using a glove box or a box lying on it's side and wiped/sprayed with 70% alcohol to sterilize and to help prevent dust from falling in. Comparatively, each container of sown seeds will produce about 100+ seedlings. Search orchid seed flasking by Fbt2007 for more details

For those who dont know, orchid seeds need a mycorrhizal fungus to germinate in the wild because they DO NOT HAVE or have very little endosperm to fuel it's germination. What orchid lovers do to germinate the seed is to plant it on MS(Murashige and Skoog) medium with 30g/L of sugar, about 7-9g/L of agar, and some other additives like coconut water and active charcoal. This MUST be done in a sterile environment so that the media will not get contaminated and the seeds will have to be thrown away.

@JakesJayas if I'm not wrong it takes from around 3 years and older from seed to flower.

Guessing u never pollinate Vanilla

growing orchids from seeds are best left to the experts! one reason is that you need to grow them in a sterile environment, in test tubes, and the germination rate isn't that high. Your best bet is threw division and kikis.
