Henry begs the question: Are punk bands selling out when their songs end up on television commercials?

Absolutely right Henry. Read any rock bio, & it may shock you to discover that even "big name" bands made next to nothing from record sales, due to the way record labels operate (i.e- the artist is always in debt to the record company). Even when The Clash had just made "the greatest album of the 80s" they were £200,000 in debt to CBS, & Joe Strummer was living in a squat with a plastic bag of possessions. Selling a track to an advert means they FINALLY get some money for all the toil.

Jimi Hendrix-Fire...Used for a fucking cell phone commercial years back, the man is dead, he doesn't even get a voice in the matter. That's the shit that pisses me off.

@MrVinushka Henry Rollins ate dog food and slept in one room with all his band mates in order to have enough money to release a record on their own; As I see it, I have no problems with them eventually getting money for their music - and the same goes for any indipendent band.
